I can see vividly the things you describe because of them, and wish there was some way to mitigate the suffering of those children, but of course, at this point I cannot. Remember this,Jess, if you become overwhelmed by the giant need which you cannot possibly fill. All you really can do is to touch hearts and plant seeds of hope. If you do this, your contributions will live on long after you leave.
Thanks guys. :) The kids, the families, the communities - they still have an immense sense of pride and love. As long as they have that, they have hope. Anything I can do to foster that is a small gift, but all I can do right now, you know? No one wants pity - they just want a helping hand. I give as much as I can, but in spite of it all, I always get more back.
